Fun Facts: Los Angeles’ Eastern neighborhoods
- Some of the small, long-established neighborhoods that line Route 66 in Los Angeles’ eastern area include Cypress Park, El Sereno, Glassell Park, Lincoln Heights, and Montecito Heights.
- Many of these neighborhoods are known for their Latino culture. The area features many Mexican restaurants, panaderias (bakeries), and Latino-oriented shops.
- Route 66 travels through here on multiple alignments, including the Arroyo Seco Parkway – the first freeway in the U.S. – with its scenic, Art Deco style tunnels and bridges.
