Fun Facts: Victorville, California
- Victorville got its start in the 1880s thanks to Jacob Nash Victor, who helped bring the railroad through town. What started as “Victor” officially became Victorville in 1962—and has grown into a bustling desert city of around 140,000 people.
- The city’s early growth came from the booming cement industry; hard hats and dust were everywhere! During World War II, the huge George Air Force Base was built nearby, causing additional growth; today, it is a busy logistics airport.
- Do not miss the California Route 66 Museum, located in the former Red Rooster Cafe—a perfect spot to dive into Mother Road history.
